My 8-year-old really did say this to me a few months after I left my business of 12 years to focus more on my family. I had spent YEARS building a business that was finally working for me (clients on automate, monthly paychecks, leads coming in like clockwork), yet I found myself constantly feeling stressed and pulled in so many directions.
I felt like…
My family was always getting the left-over parts of me,
My phone/laptop was an appendage of my body,
And my kids weren’t getting the version of me that they deserved (ouch).
Even as a young designer, I was never into climbing the corporate ladder. I actually quit the corporate hustle to build a business that would allow me to be with my kids. But here I was — after finding success yet losing my way in the process (confusing!) — being pulled further from them by the very thing intended to bring us closer.
If I’m being honest, stepping out of my business to be a stay-at-home, homeschool mom was one of the hardest sacrifices I’ve ever made. But with it came life lessons that led our home and family to a new level of peace and freedom.
